About Great Circle Rigging
Great Circle Rigging gets its name from our nautical roots manufacturing yacht rigging.
The term 'Great Circle' is, in fact, the shortest route between two points on the surface of the globe thus being the most economic way for ships to operate the trade routes over great distances.
In days gone by on the old sailing ships, the analogy of Great Circle Sailing relied on the very best quality rigging and sailmaking, superb seamanship and navigational skills as being the only way to embark on a safe and successful voyage making good profits for its Captain, crew and owners, including its ultimate customers.
This is as true today as it was then. Great Circle Rigging was formed with the policy of using only the best products, the best workmanship, and the best methodical approach to whatever challenges it embarks upon. For nearly 40 years we have been supplying and installing wire assemblies for sailing boats and manufacturing high performance sails. Whilst our roots are in making stainless steel rigging and sails for cruising and high performance yachts, a natural progression was producing products for architectural and structural applications.
Great Circle Rigging is already established as being one of the leading producers of superb rigging and components. All our components are manufactured to the highest quality. Stainless steel cable systems can be supplied with test certificates if advised in advance. Whatever the application we normally have a system to suit, or custom made products and systems can be designed and manufactured to suit individual requirements.
We are a dedicated, hands-on organisation where the directors will normally be your first point of contact as well as overseeing your project right through from concept to supply/installation. We have a vast experience gained from the successful completion of a huge variety of projects and can offer advice on any of our systems where required.
Some of our major projects include:
Western Morning News, African Aviary London Zoo, Don Valley Stadium, RAC Control Bristol, Rotherhithe Tunnel Footbridge, Aldercastle London, The Helicon London, River & Rowing Museum Henley, Telecom Mast Ireland, Echo 24 Sunderland, Royal Borders Rail Bridge Berwick upon Tweed, Sainsburys Edinburgh & Alnwick, Durham County Cricket Club, James Square Development University of Plymouth and many other significant projects.
We pride ourselves on being not only a supplier of fine rigging and fabric assemblies, but offer sound technical advice and an invaluable service to Architects, Structural Engineers and Steelwork Fabricators.
